( @lygrim, for megamind to wear in the feudal high fantasy au? )

Nice

Definitely takes what I had envisioned in a new direction. It occurs to me that I’ll have to draw him a wardrobe now. Roxanne too. Love the geometrics, at first I thought they were a map of molecular structures. Love the stars and the lunar cycle on his sleeve too that’s really neat and ties in to parts of the story that hAVEN’T BEEN SHARED YET. Stop it with the improbable educated guesses and incidental parallels, Set, really.

!!! Ahhhh that’s so exciting!! I’d love to see anything you do for their wardrobes! I really love the Feudal High Fantasy AU! ❤

(Is it set in historical feudal Japan specifically, or is it like–a fantasy place/time that’s based on feudal Japan?)

Lol neither actually, and I hope you won’t be too disappointed with me.

Although now that you’ve asked the question I’m reconsidering geographical lines as they pertain to the level of diversity in my story because honestly I was stuck with the idea that most of the main characters we see in the movie are, in fact, white so I felt obligated to stick with ‘Caucasian’ spaces, but I’m realizing now that as it is a fantasy and I can do whatever the fuck I want, including adding fucking trolls and magic so why can’t I have more widely spread ethnic diversity, I can dammit and I will Goddamit so there.

so continue with the knowledge that I’ve only just reached that understanding and am looking forward to gleefully screwing my original shape of the world and building fresh.

The setting of the story is (was) more medieval European. My concept was that Megamind has been systematically moving to, living with, and learning about different regions of humanity, and he’s been through several. (So far his mountain neighboring Roxanne’s town is his least favorite.) Rather than having the cultural experience and presentation of an ‘alien’ be from only one place, I wanted to play with the idea that Megamind would want to move through them once he was indepedent, adopting and piecing together a more complete philosophy based on the premises of a species not his own and doing so by touring different populations. (And shaping his magic in the same way.)

There that is entirely more than I was wishing to share but once again you’ve clairification things for me with an idle question, so thanks for that.

If theres one thing I crave whenever I play New vegas it’s.. horses.. So i MADE MY OWN

They’re called sleipnir for pretty self explanatory reasons, plus I thought being named after something mythological fits pretty well with some of the other mutant animals in the wastes. The run cycle is mostly rotoscoped

a necromancer is just a really late healer

“you’re too late, doc, he’s…he’s already dead…”

*cracks knuckles* i didnt get my medical license revoked for nothing

i like idea of a necromancer that can bring back the dead but doesnt know how to cure the living so has to wait for someone to die before bringing them back

“hey doc do you have any splints I think I fractured my ankle”

*cocks gun* no but I’ll do you one better

creepy as fuck, but also amazing [tweet]

Found the creature- it’s called an Oblex and it appears in Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes along with art of the kid’s player character! They’re apparently the result of Mindflayer experimentation on Oozes and they’re sick as fuck, you can read about them in <a href=“https://www.google.com/amp/comicbook.com/gaming/amp/2018/05/23/dungeons-and-dragons-make-a-wish-mordenkainens-tome-of-foes/”>this article! concept: black magic which heals and protects

a doctor parts skin with a careful touch, turns a tumor into shadow, and seals his patient once more with black threads.

a teenager buys black pills from the pharmacy, swallows one, lies back. they find themselves shrouded in darkness, and for the first time in a long time they sleep well. in the morning they wake under their covers, safe and warm.

a parent casts a shadow over their child, whose body overheats quickly. with the shadow protecting them, the child can walk safely under the sun, fearing neither sunburn nor heat stroke.

light moves swiftly, but darkness is everywhere, and all connected. white magic transportation moves its passengers at dangerous speeds; it’s black magic which harnesses the everywhereness of the dark and turns it into the safest and most efficient transportation known to life.
