I always find it funny that Imelda doesn’t seem fazed one bit when the clerk says that Miguel STOLE FROM THE DEAD.
But then GOD FORBID the mention of a guitar.

Here are some handmade clay figures of Imelda, Coco, and Hector from Pixar’s Coco! 🙂
I absolutely adored Coco – it’s one of my favorite Pixar films of all-time. ❤ Not long after watching the movie, I bought myself some collectible figures, but since the figures only included Hector and Imelda in their Land of the Dead skeleton forms (and Coco was left out! >.< ), I decided to make some figures depicting them as they appeared together in that old photograph.
As with all my other clay figures, these are made entirely of Fimo clay, baked in the oven, and details were added after baking. Eyes are made from colored pieces of paper that were glued on, noses and mouths were drawn on with marker, and the designs on Hector’s mariachi suit were painted on with acrylics.
Hector and Imelda are between 5 and 6 inches long, and Coco is about 3 inches long. Each figure took me about two and a half hours to complete (well, Coco took less time since she’s so tiny). If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
(Flash was used when I took the picture of the three of them together, but it was not used in the bottom three photos of their faces. The colors look a little wonky because of this. lol)

an au where hector never dies and is still so intensely in love with his wife?? where he becomes successful anyways because there are other ways to get famous besides murder??
also they have more than one kid including those twins imelda suspected would come around one day and hector gets the big family he’s always wanted but he won’t admit that he spoils coco the most and imelda is done with his favouritism
not to mention imelda gets to have a career on her own too because she fixed up coco’s shoes and started liking it so much she wanted to do it for the rest of her life
miguel rivera is born into a family of musicians AND shoemakers and let’s be honest he’s obviously going to get compared to hector almost everyday of his life but miguel just kinda goes along with it because hector is literally the greatest musician of all time
I’m pretty judicious in my reactions to both movies and books (I’m a lousy person to see a movie with because I’m always the “okay but why didn’t the eagles just fly them to Mordor” killjoy), but Coco is hands-down one of the best animated movies I’ve ever seen. The story is so masterfully told, so heartwarming without being saccharine; the characters are genuine, the art is stunning, and the music is amazing (I had it on repeat all throughout sketching these).
Top to bottom, Coco giving Hector some inspiration, the fabulously-animated Dante, Imelda drawing a lightning bolt of courage from that Look Hector gives her during La Llorona, a color study of Miguel, and the moment Coco begins to remember again.
