oh yeah and i can’t believe it’s taken me this long to bring this up but i’m absolutely not here for people shading the “american girl today”/”my american girl” line because

  • the line literally enables girls to create a doll that looks like them
  • including a wide array of non-white skin tones and non-european features
  • like black dolls with curly and textured hair
  • image

  • or asian dolls that appear to have epicanthic folds
  • image

  • and they’ve also released accessories like doll-sized wheelchairs, hearing aids, and crutches so that girls who aren’t able-bodied or are hard of hearing can have a little friend who shares their experiences
  • image

  • image

  • and they’ve even begun to offer dolls without hair for little girls who have alopecia or have lost hair while battling cancer
  • image

  • and basically if you don’t think that’s the tightest shit then get out of my face

Also: SERVICE DOGS.

IT’S SO CUTE IT EVEN HAS TRAINING TREATS. You go American Girl.

They also consulted the Nez Pierce when making their Kaya doll and that’s why her smile doesn’t show teeth, among other things, and they’ve released some beautiful, and accurate, modern Powwow regalia for her.

Also they’ve been offering all this stuff since I was still getting the catalog. I just turned 29, so if I’m going to guess, that means they’ve been offering these options since at least 1996ish.

You know those movies about those little nerd boys who get with really hot girls, and those girls eventually learn to settle for a little nerd boy because he’s kinda nice sometimes? Propaganda.

You know those movies and shows where the little nerd girl has to change absolutely every aspect that makes her, her, starting by her appearance, so she can get the really hot boy, while when it’s the other way around the girl just settles with the nerd boy? Propaganda.

things tumblr needs to add:

  • lockable posts (so you can make a post unrebloggable)
  • when deleting a post, it deletes everywhere else.
  • proper block button, if twitter can do it, so can you.
  • proper reporting guidelines

also searching multiple tags at once would be wonderful

And the ability to track url tags with hyphens yes good

I reblogged this five years ago and literally, none of these things have happened.

Sending asks from a secondary account

date when it was made next to the post/reblog

Being able to switch a side blog to make it your main

an actual option for reporting pornbots instead of just reporting them as spam

when you edit/update your post, it changes for everybody who re-blogged it previously

actual blogs by literal pedos/nazis get deleted upon some kind of investigation

being able to search for words/tags in your archives (so you can go in there and search for something and see it all at once, instead of scrolling around your blog forever)

a record that keeps track of people who sent you an ask (not anons), so if you replied privately but then forgot what somebody asked you and who it was, you can look through an ask archive (the messenger kinda has this, but not the asks)

when you reblog a post, the reblog button permanently turns green so when you see that post on your dash again you know whether you’ve reblogged it before or not (similar to how the like button turns red when you like a post)

the addition of various emojis next to the like button so you can react appropriately to someone’s post as a way of acknowledging it beyond just adding it to your likes (Facebook does this and it’s one feature there that I actually enjoy.)
